  • Johnson 150 Dead Cylinders

I have a 1998 Johnson 150 OIS that has 2 dead cylinders (middle and top) on the port side. The plugs appear to be firing good and I swapped out a working cylinders carb. to one of the dead cylinders and still nothing. I have checked compression and am a little low at 90 psi. but all the cylinders are very close to 90. What else can I check before I buy a power pack. I recently rebuilt all the carbs so I don't think it's that, although I wasn't having an issue till after they were reinstalled.

Compression shouldn't be more 15% difference between cylinders. If you have fire and compression on those cylinders then may have carb problem.

I have moved the carbs around from working cylinders to dead cylinders and nothing changes. Although I worked on the engine today and one of the dead cylinders has moved from the portside center to the top starboard cylinder. Very confusing.
