I accidently found shifter screw loose, threads on screw are good but will not tighten, any suggestions?

If talking screw on lower unit that holds shift fork in then shift fork may have fell down in gearcase. If can't see it through hole to get aligned back up probably will have to take gearcase apart.

Shift fork is still lined up, I can't see for sure, but would bet that threads in housing are stripped or worn out. Is there an epoxy or lock-tite that might hold that shifter screw in place and not leak?

Loctite makes a thread repair but don't know how good it would hold up on gearcase.
