  • New Thermostat housing isn't the same

So I just picked up a 1982 9.9 and it runs good except the water indicator is very weak.
I have now changed the water pump but as I went to change the thermostat the cover was repaired with jb weld and there was no thermostat. I didn't think the cover would work properly so I order a new one. It came and it looks different. It lines up except for one bolt hole. I know I order for the correct year.
Do you think this is the replacement and not to worry or did they send the wrong part? I didn't try it since I needed to order the spring and retaining clip as that didn't exist either. I know this isn't high pressure but thought I would ask since it wasn't all that cheap.
    Thanks in advance.

I tried to find some images online since I am not home.
This looks like what I have.

This looks like the new part that was shipped.

The images are flipped in relation to each other but you will notice the new cover has that extra bolt hole on the bottom right which would be the top left of the old cover imaged. It looks like there was never a bolt there so maybe I am worrying for nothing.

It should be part number 0329919. I dont remember having to replace the cover and not sure if cover you have will leak or not.

Ok, that's the new part I received. At least that's the number on the package. I will use sealant on reassembly hopefully that will pick up any slack.
Also, not having the thermostat as a reference. I assume from the parts diagram the order is spring, retaining clip, o-ring, thermostat from the top down.

Thanks for your help. I just wanted to post my results.
I put everything back together with all the new parts and the water indicator now has a strong stream. I ran it in a bucket and not the hose so it is working great. I was worried at first because it took about 10 seconds to prime itself but after than it was a very strong stream even at idle it had a slow stream and not drops like before.
