Model # j115SLEDR /, Serial G03992055 Johnson 115 Oceanrunner has unknown problems of hard to crank, skipping when throttled up and idling,. This motor on boat that I just bought and I knew it had problems. A compression test resulted in #1/ 120, #2 /120, #3/120 #4/100. The previous owner had mechanic whom I am trying to get in touch with went into the #4 cylinder as I can see evidence of new gasket or material on that particular head. I also see evidence that he drained the carberators as evidenced by the screw being slightly marred that drain the carbs. Could anyone help me by first telling me which engine or type of engine I have by the serial number or model number? Next woiuld the low compression on #4 be causing these cranking, runnoing idling problems? Lastly to be honest I have lots of experience with farm eqjuipment, diesels, lawnmowers etc.but have zero experience with an outboard so forgive me if I seem confused.. Lastly after taking off the air filter up front I see where there are hoses blocked at the ends with bolts and or screw indicating that some of the parts in that area have been replaced or hoses rerouted. From experience with old equipment I realize that parts may become obsolete from the manjufacturer and either a slightly different part may be added to work although they require rerouting of hoses or blocking off. Any and all help graciously appreciated in getting me started in the right direction.

You have a 2006 115hp model motor, the compression can be within 15% of each other so compression is within specs. Not sure what hoses are plugged off, is oil injection(VRO pump) still working or has it been disconnected? Can you take a picture of the hoses and post them so we see what is plugged off?
