Ok guys I'm new to this I have a 1984 j10rcra that will run in my tank but on the lake I'm goin to pull my hair out What would cause this

Check compression, check for spark on all cylinders, may have to remove and clean carb.

What's the compression sopost to be and I cleaned the carb and put new plugs

All cylinders should be even, no more than 15% difference between cylinders.
