  • 2003 Johnson Bogs at 50% + RPM's...

This last weekend I was cruising around at 65% throttle and the Motor suddenly bogged down like it was going to die. I had been running for maybe an hour - I did notice my water spout had some trash but water wasn't too hot. I killed it - started it again and it seemed fine until I get to around 40% - 50% power then it acts like it has a one cylinder miss (like an underlying foot foot foot foot foot repetition~) If that makes any sense.
I changed out plugs. No change...

Would anyone know my next step for process of elimination. If I pump bulb it bogs down idle (flooding I'm sure). So pumping the bulb at High RPM's doesn't eliminate problem...

Check compression, check fire on each cylinder with timing light when boggs, may need to clean carbs and check fuel pump for ruptured diaphram.

      help

I have a 2001 Johnson 115hp I'm having the same problem. Runs great a low Rpm's and I can get about 5 min of run time at 65% throttle. Then I bogs down like it's not getting gas or spark. I've changed the plugs, primer ball, fuel separator. The carbs are spotless. If I'm out of gear and give it gas it seems fine but in gear under load. My next move is to pull the boat and check the lower end.
