  • Puzzling 150 Fast Srtike 1998

took boat out nice run around, ran it near top end for 3-5 minutes. Came back in, three days later would not start. Kinda felt like no spark. Good outboard mechanic came back with Stator and flywheel hit each other and power p[ack was bad, all carb bowls needed replaced due to cracks when carbs were completely gone thru, one carb was pouring gas out. In addition, asked for new plugs, water pump & lower grease. Expensive to replace those - now after several tries and replacing: one plug, 3 coil packs, power pack again, its not right. Starts easy, giving it throttle, it goes up to 3000 rpm and looses power - choking it floods or partially floods engine. Changing timing has little impact. This is still a VRO setup.

    Who's got a clue?

I retired in 1991 so your 1998 model will be forever seven years in the future for me in a manner of speaking. However, I've read over your statement a dozen time and meaning no offense... I have a problem trying to figure out what you mean in your statements.

With all s/plugs removed, the spark should jump a 7/16" air gap with a strong blue lightning like flame... a real SNAP! Dies it?

What is the compression psi of all individual cylinders?

One carburetor is flooding?... If so, remove, clean and rebuild it.

Put some detail into exactly how your engine is acting.
