  • Steering question

I have an 88 Johnson 40. It has the single linkage steering connector. Is there an adapter to hook up the pulley system ? I have the dual pulley bracket with spring loaded t pin. Can take a pic if it helps.

I have this part......but it has a spring loaded pin not a bolt. Still, it will not attach to the 88 40HP. The 40 has a short tongue with two threaded holes. Unless the one bolt is supposed to go in one of the holes....seems like a weak attachment.

You can use a 3/8 fine thread bolt and bolt it to steering arm of outboard same as newer style steering cables use.
