  • 60 hp bogging down

I have a 2000, 60 hp Johnson that is bogging down on acceleration. It does not come out of the hole and get on plane as fast as it should and then only runs about 20 miles an hour top end where it run around 32. I had this problem once before and the mechanic said it was the trigger (Stator I believe) and replaced it. It ran fine then but is now doing it again. I order a new stator and when I went to change it noticed chips out of the gasket on the top of the timer base so replaced it as well. I noticed the new stator did not have the same wires on the bottom plug. It was missing one wire that came back out of the plug and goes to ground I think. I took the one out of the old one and put it in the new one. It is still bogging down. When I first went to start it after replacing the parts it wouldn't and I re-plugged the bottom plug and it worked then. I guess I didn't have it plugged in very well. Any ideas on what my problem is. The closes mechanic is 170 miles away and I would like to fix the motor myself.

    thanks.
