Motor: Johnson 2007 15hp 2 cycle, Model No J15RSUA
When I removed the lower unit for this motor, the drive shaft was stuck in the power head and came out of the lower unit. When I removed the water pump from the lower unit, the small drive pin (part no 300611) was not there.
Because of the notch in the drive shaft and the impeller I do not understand how the drive shaft even came out, but it did.
My concern now is that with the drive shaft removed, it is possible that the pin dropped down through the hole that the drive shaft goes through in the water pump to the bottom of the lower unit.
My question is this: Is it possible for this pin to get into the main gear section of the lower unit or is it somewhere between the water pump and the gear case and will do no harm staying there?
The drive shaft now inserts correctly into the pinion gear in the lower unit and the drive shaft and propeller shaft turn freely without any unusual noises.
