  • 99 115 hp bogging down

first time poster my 99 j115pleem is giving me problems at wot. fished a tourney and couldnt even get on plane till i pushed in the choke aka enricher and she ran like a top right up to 5500 rpm. when i let off the choke she bogged back down. starts and idles fine. can run up to 3300 rpm at 10 mph fine with no bogging. is this a weak fuel pump? seems to me its starving for fuel. thanks in advance!

p.s. 22pitch raker is the prop fyi

I had a similar problem with a 200HP Ocean Runner, check the timing advance. With the cover off the motor, have someone throttle the boat to WOT and see if the linkage to the timing advance module is engaging. Mine was a simple connection problem. Hope this helps...

I'm not sure, I think holding the choke in would mess with the air fuel ratio which would fool the timing. I know that with the problem I had if I engaged the choke it would run better, but the problem was the timing advance linkage...
