I just picked up a 1986 Hobie Power Skiff with a 1972 Johnson 50hp motor. I have two questions (so far :-) )
1) There does not appear to be a "pee hole" on this motor like my new Mercury motor has. Water does come out of the engine about 1/2 down the lower unit be it is not a strong stream like my other outboard. Is this normal?
2) Is it possible to add a tach to this engine? Is there a wire in the harness for it?
The engine runs surprisingly well. I am getting 25mph out of it on this boat. I want to check the rpms since I was expecting in the low 30's and it does not sound like the engine is near WOT.
