I have a 88 20hp j20crlcca outboard. I was wondering if i can install a 85 30hp
model j30elc0a power head on my unit? The base gasket is the same with many other parts. The only difference I can see is the throttle linkage. But I believe I can swap them over to work, I looks like with a few mods I can do it. I already have done the carb and intake swap to bump my motor up to a 30hp. It was running sweet until my brother in-law straight gassed it!! I was wondering if anyone out there had tried or knows anything about these engines? I am pretty mechanically inclined. But would like some input before I start in on this project. It will be nice to have electric start and a charging system! Any info would be great! Thanks in advance!!
