6 HP hard to start cold

Have a 6 HP, about 1985, Model CJ8RCOB, that usually runs great but this spring I had a very difficult time starting when cold. Has a good spark. Removed and cleaned carb (no dirt found) reinstalled and not much better. Will start first pull once it has started and runs and idles great. Any ideas???
