1999 Johnson outboard 50 hp (j50pleea)
Engine cut out on me the other night. It was burning white smoke but running, boat was sluggish at first to get on plane then cut off at low rpms - could not get it to start again. It was a long paddle back.
I saw that the temperature connection had melted and fallen out. I checked the spark plugs - top plug was white and milky, bottom plug was dirty. Checked the compression. Top plug reads 70 and bottom 125. Exhaust was a milky white as well.
Anyone deal with this before? Is it a blown head gasket?
