  • spring start up issues - 2 years since running

New to the forum world with a Johnson 140 TLCTE. There is a part above the fuel pump that has a valve that turns 90 degrees is held by a bracket, three small lines running to it from below and when attempting to start is leaking gas. It has a small rubber diaphram? and a spring loaded needle type valve. What is it and what is it's function. The Johnson site doesn't show it in any of the fuel part diagrams.
    Thanks.

      Primer?

I don't know your motor but if you were talking about my 1985 70HP you be almost exactly describing the primer. Does your motor have a primer? See if the item clicks when you depress the ignition key.
