Hello everyone. I bought a old fiberglass tri haull bass boat guessing 70's.it has a Johnson super sea-horse 35 on it. The guy said the engine was kicking in and out of gear and he lost the prop in river. I tried researching info on it and I can't find out what year it is let alone the cause of the problem. Serial# is. 1917044 no letters in it. Found this on front by handel.then only other # could find was on top rear on like a silver tab or plug with seahorse symbol with these #'s.1889633. Thank you for any help anyone can give me.

kicking in and out of gear
I had a 1965 35 hp that had the same problem-- it would jump out of forward and into neutral any time the throttle was above idle-- the engagement dogs on the drive gears in the gearcase were worn. I had to replace as a set. it was expensive even in 1975! Go to Boat.net web site or similar to find your motor by bringing up exploded parts diagrams that match. fyi fletch
