I'm installing a 1981 15 hp power head on to my 1983 Johnson outboard (J15RLCTR)--- the 1981 parts diagrams call for installing a restrictor plug in the exhaust housing. When you separate the gearcase from the exhaust housing ( like when doing a water pump) the plug is supposed to be blocking the largest of the 3 holes the exhaust gas passes through. My 1983 did not have this and the parts diagrams don't show it uses one. Question--- do I install this restrictor or not?
