I have a 1983 Johnson 50 HP Model J50BELCTA. I don't have an owner's manual. I see a sticker on the motor showing which way to turn the lever on the fuel primer solenoid for manual starting, like if rope starting or starting with inoperative primer solenoid, but don't know exactly how to use it. Do I simply turn it to manual position, then squeeze the fuel line bulb to prime it, and leave it in that position until it starts, or do I need to squeeze the bulb then move it back to normal position before cranking, or what ?
I'm wondering if I need to do something special to trap fuel pressure in the solenoid, or is just squeezing the bulb enough ? Also do I need to keep squeezing the bulb until it warms up ?
Thanks,
Randy
