  • Tilt ham pin

The trim pump is leaking from the bleed screw hole. I can't get the screw out so I set about taking the pump off. Got all the bolts free bot the ram pin through the motor housing is giving me fits. How much heat should I use ? Any ideas on removing that little screw ?
    Thanks.

If put too much heat with torch the aluminum will melt. Heat is the only hope to get it apart without breaking something.

Thanks. I used moderate heat and a loaner tool from the auto parts store, a c clamp on steroids. I had to cut a couple of pieces of I/2" rod and then drill the pin to accept the ground down end of the rod so it wouldn't slip off. I heated, made up on the clamp and hit it with a lump hammer and repeated, a lot. Earlier an ob mechanic told me I couldn't get it out., he was wrong.

After all that it looks like I will need to lift the motor off to get the pump off unless you know a trick it looks like it only falls away to the transom side.
