Thermostat housing 88 hp SPL

This is my first ob after 30 years in a stern drive. The thing is a sewing machine compared to the Chevy small block. Is there a trick to getting on the bolts of the thermostat housing located below the head or do I need to remove the power head and pan ?

Use a swivel socket and extension.

Thanks I did that already still can't get on it with 3/8" drive bought a 1/4".....

Tilt ram pin

Anyone got any tricks for knocking the pin loose ? Tried heat and brute force, won't budge.
