  • trying to identify pin in johnson block???

i have a 1986 140hp johnson v4. im trying to figure out the tiny little pin that the crankshaft or crank bearing rest against and spins on. i believe it just holds the crankshaft spinning straight. it only sticks out maybe an 1/8th or 3/16ths of an inch but mine has been hit or something and is barely sticking out. it seems like its pressed into the block and im trying to see if i can even buy the thing and if it needs to be drilled out or what. sorry i'm not the best at describing stuff any help appreciated

I'm not boat motor expert , but from my years of tinkering what you have described sounds to me like it is a bearing locating pin . It is to prevent the bearing from spinning in the block. The old air-cooled VW motor's are built this way. If it is there should be a notch or hole in the bearing race that the pin will fit over or around .
