  • 2005 Johnson 15hp 2-stroke saltwater motor

A couple months ago I had a gear oil leak from the prop after I flushed the motor with fresh water. I mixed new gas and changed the gear oil in my lower unit and flushed the motor again with a hose. That time I got a small puddle of the new gear oil I had just put in my lower unit drain from the prop. The gear oil was not burned or milky either time, just a small leak from the prop. Today I pulled the prop off to check for fishing line or any other debris but found nothing.

The bushing located right behind the prop is locked in there tighly and not moving due to excessive corrosion.
How much force should I be using or is there a trick for getting it out?

Secondly, I think the leak may be coming from a bad oil seal located right in front of the bearing housing, a bad O-ring right behind it, or both.
Should I go ahead and order new bearings along with the lower unit seal kit and replace everything at once?

All the forums I have read say the bearings will get destroyed in the process of replacing the seals and o-rings.

We usually only have to replace prop shaft seals and housing o-rings but does depend on if can get housing pulled out without damaging it.
