Low idle on my 25 hp Johnson.

Model j25elceb. I have a 1989 25 hp Johnson , on a 1605 Lowe line fishing boat. I am the original owner. Over the last couple of years the idle has gotten so low that the engine would die. Last year at the end of the season,I had to adjust the cable to idle it up. This motor has never given me any trouble till now. I have never changed the fuel pump. I figure that the ethanol is finally maybe taking its toll. Plugs, water pump,and lower unit fluid is all that's ever been changed. Any ideas on what it my be? Moon Dog 1

Could definitely be fuel related. Start with a compression test, then remove and repair carburetor.
