2000 90HP engine cover seal?

I need a new engine cover seal for my year 2000, Johnson 90HP VLSSE engine: Parts page for that engine says the cover seal is

0335843 *SEAL

and that it's obsolete.

Cover seal for 90HP Evinrude, same year and HP, as well as a lot of Johnsons and Evinrudes before and after, is

0344387 *SEAL, and it is available.

Does anyone know if these are the same seals?

Not sure, haven't tried to replace one but good chance it would work.

I am having the same problem finding that seal. Did this work for you?

Better late than never, I guess. The Evinrude seal worked fine on my Johnson -- fit perfectly. I guess it was the less expensive part that was "obsolete."
