What is the recommended prop size for a 1989 J150TLCEM 150 HP VRO outboard?? The boat is an aluminum duckworth, about 3000# total weight or so. Looking for a compromise between speed and hole shot performance.
There is currently a 14x17 aluminum prop on the outboard. It is dinged up a bit. Would I benefit from a new stainless prop?? Maybe step up to a 14x19?? Currently the top wide open speed is 39 mph. Seems slow for a 150hp motor but it may just be the way it is.
If I would benefit from a new stainless prop what would you recommend??
You can try a 19 aluminum, should give you a little more top speed. Stainless is a little more resistant to dings and dents. If you go stainless keep the 17p in stainless.
