I have a 94 40hp johnson 2stroke with oil injection. I recently caped the oil injection line and started mixing the gas. It ran great for a couple of weeks, now the last time I was on the water it was starting hard and developed a faint whine while it was running. The sound seems to stay constant regardless of engine rpms and the motor doesn't idle like it once did (it seems like it starving for fuel). Is it reasonable to assume that the fuel pump is going out? And if so, is there a different fuel pump that I need to eliminate the oil injection and continue mixing gas and oil?
