  • Replacing Trim/Tilt Switch on Control Handle

I own a 1992 Johnson 70 hp. The trim/ tilt switch on the shift handle barely works. I have to press really hard on it in order to tilt the motor up. So I decided to replace the switch.

I removed the control box from the side of the boat and took out the allen screw that seems to release the handle from the rest of the control box. I tapped on the handle and it seems stuck . I don't want to damage anything. Is there anything else holding the handle to the box assembly except that one allen screw ?

Also, I checked the OMC price of this switch and it's about 100 bucks. Does anyone know of an aftermarket manufcturer that makes this switch ?

    Thanks in advance.

    Thank you

Don't know what style controls you have but most models just have the one screw holding handle on. Don't know of any aftermarket ones available.
