Water pump on '02 J10tel4st

Hello
In replacing impeller on the above noticed a large salt deposit at the bottom of the water inlet housing. I assume the gasket has failed and am trying to remove the housing. The repair manual states that it should slide up the shaft but it is frozen in place. How do I remove it without damaging it, penetrating oil? Manual indicates that the water tubes will come out with it. I plan to put new grommets on the tubes Will I have to replace the oil seal as well even if it shows no sign of leakage?

There is no easy way to remove it, use penetrating oil and enginuity. I do recommend replacing the seals/gaskets and grommets.
