  • Stator wiring

I just received a stator for my 1974 Johnson 70 hp motor from Boats.net. I have a question on the wiring. The old stator has a yellow, yellow/gray, brown and a brown/orange wires. The new stator has 2 solid yellow, brown and brown/yellow wires. I assume that the brown/orange wire is the same as that new brown/yellow wire? I don't know which of the solid yellow wires are equivalent to the "old" yellow/gray wires?

The 2 solid yellow wires do not matter. Just be sure the others match (brown and brown/orange).

      Next problem

Installed stator thanks to your information on the wiring. Motor started OK and ran well above 1000 rpm. Even after running for several minutes the motor would stall when the rpms went below 1000. Carburetor needs cleaning/rebuilding?? Anything else that might cause this stalling problem?? Thanks for the help.
