1976 Johnson 40HP Wiring
I'm in need of someone who can help me figure out the wires on my motor. It is a 1976 40HP Johnson Model #40E76R. There are 5 wires (Not counting the two bigger red & black wires which I'm guessing hook directly to the battery) on it which are Blue, Blue/White, Red, White, Purple. I was told they are as follows:
Red = Battery
Blue = 1 Set of points
Blue/White = 2nd Set of points
White = Starter
Purple = Choke
I am in need of an Ignition Switch and directions on how to hook these up. The boat and controls have no switches so I will be adding one for it. Any help will be greatly appreciate. I have been elsewhere with this problem and I have so far only been able to get the wiring diagram described to me but I'm not sure it's correct...
Red = Battery
