1985 8 hp alternator

I have a 1985 J8RCOB I purchased recently. The man I bought it from said it had an alternator, but he removed the wires that brought the power out of the motor. Does this sound logical, and if a so, where would the wires connect? I'd like to be able to keep my electric trolling motor batteries charged, if possible.

By looking at the parts breakdown, your model does not have a charging system, only the 8SLR model had a charging system. I could be wrong, I don't have a manual for your engine and was going by the parts available for your engine.
