  • 84 70hp primer solenoid

Still working on my project boat and the previous owners really have me screwed up. All 3 carbs have fuel lines going to them from the fuel pump. There are also small lines which feed from the primer solenoid. 1 line feeds the top and center carb and 1 feeds the bottom carb. There is another larger nipple on the primer solenoid that I assume should have a feed from the fuel pump but it doesn't. I can't find any kind of schematic that shows the hose routing. Thanks for any help. Keith

Answered my own question. Took the primer solenoid off. Put a hose on the large nipple and can blow air though it and it came out of the little nipples. Air also comes out where the red lever should be but is broken off. I took the cap off and found that the valve was in the manual position. I was able to use a screw driver and turn it back to it's electrical position. Now when I blow air in it holds pressure and when I apply voltage to the solenoid air comes out of the small tubes. I think that's why someone disconnected it in the first place. Haven't tried it out yet because I'm waiting for an idle jet that someone left out of one of the carburetors. Hope to have it straitened out this week. Keith
