  • voltage regulation 15 hp 2 stroke

I have installed running lights on my johnson cowling, and the stator/rectifier are delivering high voltage. I dont have /dont want a battery, since it is for a small dinghy. On my previous motor, a 15 hp 4 stroke Yamaha, I installed a voltage regulator stator that kept everything at 12 volts. Anyone know of a reason that I couldnt use the yamaha regulator instead of the omc?

    Thanks... Phil

Without being connected to a battery the rectifier could charge an extremely high voltage and no way of regulating it.
