Hello all,
I am new to this forum and new to outboard motors.
I was given a homemade boat that was made in 1958. It came with a Johnson RDE 19C 35 HP engine that was purchased new when the boat was built.
I doubt the engine has more than 500 hours on it.
It hasn't run in a long time. So long that no one knew where the key was, which is part of my problem.
My first question has to do with the wiring diagram.
My locksmith said that making a new key for the key start was going to be prohibitively expensive--I could probably purchase three or four new switches for what it would cost to make a new key. So I got a new key switch.
How hard would it be to hook up four wires, right? Wrong.
The diagram on the inside of the cover of the remote electric start module is not very helpful.
Also, does anyone know where I can an operator's manual for such an old engine?
Thanks in advance for your help.
