  • the rebuild

this is the story i have a 1977 johnson 6 it had no compression so i overhauled the motor replaced the rings put it all back together as the shop manual showed but now all it will do is back fire with no true timing sequence on this motor im drawing a blank ...i did find that the needle valve needed replaced just a quater turn to much i suppose i have ordered that part aswell as a carb rebuild kit. i guessmy question is. is it possible for the low speed adjustment to cause the engine to back fire any helpp is appreciated

Make sure flywheel key is not broken, check plug wires are on right cylinder.
