Hi,
I just picked up a nice used 15hp short shaft/tiller Johnson with electric start. I do not want to use the electric start as it's going on a small aluminum boat. Last night I unbolted the two leads under the engine cover at the starter solenoid block and removed the battery cable wires.
Is that all I need to do? I didn't want the cables just hanging there, and also rather than tape the battery terminals to avoid a short, I thought it best and safer to just remove them seeing as I will not be using the electric start.
I assume this won't affect or hurt the charging circuit having no battery load on the cables.
Also one really silly question, but I assume this is 50:1 like all the other Johnson/Evinrude 2 strokes I have owned.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
