My 1993 48hp Johnsson runs great, but occasionally will sputter when running at higher rpms. It recovers on its own and might run fine for a while. This symptom make take a while in between acting up, but does it most every time I'm out. Any ideas?

Check to make sure you have no water in the fuel. Its hard to say, could be ignition could also be fuel. When it starts to sputter, will it continue at idle? -
If I back off on the throttle it seems to run fine. Even if I leave the throttle up, it recovers on its own, but may happen a few more times.Comment

You can start with removing the carburetors and thoroughly cleaning.Comment

i also have a 93 48spl 50hp that does the same thing.. i narrowed it down to sloshing of the fuel in the gas tank? what kind of tank are u running?Comment
