2004 Johnson 25 hp exhaust loud

ok so i have yet another issue with this motor....the motor sounds excessively loud. its a thru hub exhaust so i would think most of it would go out the hub. i alot of it is coming out of the two hole on the back if the mid section. there seems to be a lot of CO2 coming from those holes as well. please help me. thanks again guys and gals! i dont know if this has anything to do with it but there is a black tube that goes around the drive shaft that has two seals on it and one end was wore out and no seal, i have no idea what that has to do with either.

Remove lower unit and inspect muffler to see if damaged or parts missing.

I took the lower unit off and everything seems to be in tact. Would the gasket that is between the powerhead and midsection cause this?

Yes that could cause your symptoms.
