I have a 1985 140 Johnson and sometimes she runs like a top then the next second she will not start. I bought the motor used and it had a cdi 113-4028 power pack on it. The parts list calls for a 113-3072. Could this be my problem? Please help.

CDI's can cause that problem. I am not familiar with those part numbers. -
the 113-4028 shows it goes on a 1988-89 115 hp johnson. 113-3072 shows it goes on the 1985 140 hp johnson. thank you much.Comment

You need to call /Email CDI Electronics as those are there aftermarket numbers . they will be able to help you with there products, I mostly have only found orginal OEM parts and Diagrams here.Comment
