OK I have a 1979 johnson seahorse 25hp outboard. I have got the motor to crank up, but will only crank when carb is full of gas from me pumping it into the carb from the bubble on fuel line. The motor cranks up at a very high rpm then shuts off in a few seconds. I have made an edjucated guess that the fuel pump is bad. Me and my uncle tested the fuel pump by unhooking the fuel line coming off the fuel pump and turned the motor over and no fuel came out of the line. We pushed fuel all the way through to this point so no line blockages to the bottom of the carb. We also may think it could be a vacum issue but dont really know about vacum on outboard motors. If anyone could help me on this before I end up buying a 75$ fuel pump, I would greatly appreciate it.
