  • steering on j25rlcem

My son's 25Johnson has a steering problem in that when he lets go of the steering handle when underway, especially at higher speeds, the torque causes the motor to rotate quickly causing no little bit of concern!! I checked his owner's manual and found (I think) an adjustment screw but it won't budge. What am I doing wrong and how can this be corrected? Thanks. mhematite

i had the same problem with the same exact motor. what i did was back the screw out and then seat it again. when you seat it screw the screw as hard as you can. you will find that the steering is probably tighter than you will like. but i know exactly what you are talking about with the screw being super tight. but do like i said and loosen it and then tighten it as much as you can and move the tiller handle left and right until you find the desired resistenence. let me know if you already have done that.
