  • 94 48 SPL - low power WOT

i have a 94 48 SPL. I have been struggling with low power at wide open power. I have checked spark jump, compression, rebuilt the carbs, tried it same issue. I then cleaned the carbs again, and can not get the thing to go full speed.

If i hold in the choke - it will get up to speed if i push it in at out at the right frequency.

does someone have a solution or list of things i should try? I can't remember if i rebuilt the fuel pump - think i did that too.

When rebuilding the carburetors, did you visualy varify that each air/fuel passage is clear from debri. Make sure you have repaired/replaced the fuel pump.

94 48 SPL low power WOT - Carbs and fuel pump?

when cleaning the carb - i sprayed carb cleaner though the passages and viewed what i could. I have read somewhere to take some shall copper wires to push through, some places say not to do this. is it possible something is still plugged?

also i did buy a fuel pump rebuild kit. per my manual it says i should see fuel coming out of the line to the carbs, i should see fuel coming out when i turn it over. i tried this and did not, but i have a question. there are no wires going to the fuel pump. so how can it pump fuel? should i see fuel come out by just cranking it?

Fuel pump works off of crankcase vacumn and yes if fuel pump is primed up and engine cranking over then should pump gas.
