hey guys i am new to this forum and looking for a little help. i have a 93 javalin 389fs with a 93 johnson fast strike 150. i just bought this boat last year and it seemed to do good until end of last year, it would run ok then die random and have no spark. i replaced power pack and plug wires with cdi electronics. i have had the boat out three times this year with no issues until this weekend. i hit the river yesterday morning and ran about 4 miles and it ran like a champ then i noticed my rpms dropping off a bit and then came back. at same time i noticed my volt gauge was running a shade under 12 and normally runs around 13 or so. ended up getting another mile and it died completely. it is to the point where it will start and run for a minute or so then starts missing and then dies like someone shut off key. volt gauge reads about 11 volts but charger is reading 13.1v. it will then fire right back up run for a minute and then starts missing and will die again. anyone know what my problem could be? other question i have is i was told by a guy at napa that coil packs have to have a good 12 volts or more to operate correctly. he said that one of the coil packs may cut out without enough juice and that could be causing it to die. is this true? thanks for the help

You should start by checking the ignition system and the stator. If the stator or voltage reg. is malfunctioning this could cause those symtoms. Also check all your wiring at the ignition switch and the safety kill switch.
