Water pump update/change

Hello everyone, i am about to replace the impeller on my 35 hp. Johnson, however the impeller is quite a bit different than the last one. The old impeller had a notch on the i.d of the impeller that a pin would slide into, this new impeller has a strange "wedge" piece instead of having the pin and the inside of the new impeller doesn't have a groove for the pin but has a scooped out section for the weird new part to fit in it. Does this make sense?

How do I correctly install the impeller with this new piece?

Sounds like you may have received the incorrect impeller. The impeller should fit as factory.
