Hi All,
Currently removing the powerhead on my Johnson V4 outboard for a rebuild however I have one issue.
I can not identify the motor, it is registered as an 85hp however there is no serial number plate. The other way that I've read to identify the exact model is by a serial number stamped on a welch plug somewhere on the powerhead, however I can not locate any welch plugs on the powerhead with numbers stamped on it. Looking at engine diagrams online of early V4 Johnsons I am under the assumption that it is an early 70's model.
Is there any other way to identify the specific model without the serial number? Or is somebody able to assist me in where I might find the elusive welch plug with the serial number?
Any help is much appreciated, I am trying to track down a powerhead gasket set so obviously I need the correct model number
Cheers,
Ben
