1983 35HP Johnson sounds like it trying to jump out of gear!! Help!!!

I have a 1983 35 hp johnson and when you are going down the water it sounds like its jumping out of gear it also jerks had out today and it just got worse does it need a new prop or does it need something done in the gear case please help am completely stumped on this.

Sounds like you are having some gearcase problems.
