  • 1977 johnson 9.9hp won't start need help!!!

I have 1977 9.9 hp that won't start. has not been run for some time. it was not firing on top cylinder. found crack in ignition coil. replaced. now i get a pop out of the exhaust. checked flywheel key. looked good. both plugs are firing out of the cylinder. a little fuel will come out the exhaust. it seems like a timing problem, but don't no where to look next. will not evan try to run if i feed fuel sraight to carb. i have not done anything to the carb yet. trying all other options first. thanks!!!

update checked spark with a spark tester, jumped a 1/2" gap.

Have you check to verify compression? Verify all connections to the trigger base.

compression is 75#-75# what is trigger assy. all wiring looks good no cracks, supple.

The trigger controls the spark, it is a plate below the flywheel. Compression is low, rule of thumb is greater than 90PSI and no more than 15PSI difference between cylinders.
