Johnson 70HP Head gasket recommendation

Hi, I own a 1978 Johnson 70HP Triple. I was talking to a former OMC mechanic and he mentioned that OMC recommends replacing the head gasket on these motors every two years. Can anyone confirm if that is true? Sounds kinda weird and wondering if there was some sort of weakness with the oEM gaskets that they had to come up with such a recommendation! Thanks!

I have never heard of that as a recommended maintenance item. Usually you change when they go bad, which is usually from overheating.
