96 johnson 25hp driveshaft removal

going to change seals, was wondering does anybody know what holds the driveshaft and how to remove

Yes,first make sure you have removed the propeller shaft. Then you need a special splined socket, a breaker bar. Then you need to put a wrench on the nut inside the housing and loosen from the splined shaft up top. Should come out from there.

ok i have remove the bearing carrier and replace the seals, now to remove the shaft you take out the snap ring, then the pivot screw and will that allow the shaft, reverse gear,and the shifter to come out together? thanks for the help

Be sure to remove the shift shaft and it should pull out.
